Disa - What?

So, a question was brought up today on Facebook. It was a question about the word “disability” and if it should be a considered a bad word or a “dis.” A bad name to call someone. I gave this as my answer.
I’ve recently become disabled and at first it was hard to accept. Since then, I have accepted it and I’ve come the understanding that we all live with something and this is my something. Whatever adjective you want to use to describe yourself - YOU live with something. All of us, no one is perfect.
So That being said, I don’t see the “word” disability being a horrible thing. It’s a word and like most words It’s all on how it’s being used. I am a firm believer in “it’s not what you say, but how you say it.” So, when I say “I am disabled,” I say it in the most amazing, kick ass and empowering way. You might see it as a horrible and nasty word, but We are who we are and we should love ourselves no matter what word we to describe ourselves.
